[EDIT 2]: Adjusted contrast and levels, also cropped it. Added information on her skin color.

[EDIT]: Need to adjust the contrast, need to install my PS. ><;

IT IS FINISHED! This is my completed Ax-cat, Flirgnarr, looking rather pissed.

Class: Warrior

Clan: Pahokiga

Personality: Ferocious, determined, headstrong, disciplined, dominant, intelligent, highly obvservant, laid back, with a side of playfulness and a dash of mischief.
Paint: This particular pattern is what initiated Ax-cats and their owners are painted with (blah blah blah, rite of passage). The bottommost tier symbolizes the spirits that exist in nature; the tier above that, the earth; the third tier, the waters of the swamp, the fourth tier, the grasses and plants of the swamp that the clan is located in (Which I now realize I forgot to finish that small detail. TOTALLY NOT GOING TO MESS WITH IT RIGHT NOW. IT’S DONE ENOUGH!). Each painted tier is earned through training and ritual. This style of paint is always on the forearms and calves, and worn all of the time. Uninitiated Ax-cats and owners typically wear the paint of the particular family that they come from. When the day comes for them to be fully initiated (around 24-28), they shed the paint of their families to join in the communal family of the clan.

Scars: Earned through training and her first few missions. She has two bullet wounds on her left flank near-ish to her shoulders, received from sniper shots that penetrated her body armor, but did not fatally wound her (though one bullet nearly punctured a lung). Her left forearm has two knife gashes earned from sparring with her handler/owner during training. The wounds on her right forearm are from the final initiation fight with another clan ax-cat. The scars on her neck are from a near-fatal fight with a small squad of enemy ax-cats during her 3rd mission (The same mission where she got shot). Her windpipe was collapsed, but quick thinking on her handler’s part saved her life.

Tail fan: Not colored here obviously, but it’s bright saturated lime and bright magenta. Highly reflective.

Skin color in lighted/bright light conditions: Bright blue or light blue

Skin color in low light/night: Navy-dark navy

Flir’s skin is an anomaly. Pahokigan Ax-cats have been bred to give their tails a highly reflective quality (some breeders within the clan are aiming to make them able to glow in dark conditions). This allows them to signal other ax-cats/squads during a mission or to instantly flash light into an attackers eyes. However, with Flir, this quality is applied to her skin and lends a slight advantage and disadvantage to her. Her skin acts like the reflective paint on the road: if hit with light just right, she is VERY conspicuous. But in the shadows, she’s virtually invisible.

Blargh. Whee for busy BGs. I totally should not have made the BG so hectic. Also, lack of PS = lack of cropping for me right now. Argh. It seems like it’s taking away from Flir…  So, I did paint on her scales, but decided against painting on full war paint. Her scales look really wonky and funny here in my opinion, but it’s done with iridescent gold. Which looks REALLY cool if you tilt the picture correctly cause you can see where all of her scales are. :P
Done in colored pencil, gouache background and accents, acrylic scales.

If you have any questions about ax-cats, please ask her! :)

What a handsome beast! There's a really beautiful quality to the colouring, very fleshy.
